Maggie: Quintessential Maggie; the direct look. We went for a walk around our property and up the driveway, checking on everything after the big rain last week. Poor Mags tripped over before we had even started and hit her head on the paving, the large bump is hidden under her beanie. We've had some fractious moments over the last few days, tired girls, tired parents. But usually bundling up in our warmest clothes and taking a walk brings out the best in all of us. Something I wish I could remember more often!
Elisabeth: Oh my she has suddenly grown up again. She ran down the length of the block on our walk and watching her strong, sturdy frame makes us both so proud, she runs with so much balance and confidence now. They found a big puddle in the paddock at the beginning of the walk and in the middle of her jumping she slipped and landed on her bottom in the water. Undeterred she waked around the rest of the block slightly damp!

While Rob took this week's portraits again, I take credit for the styling! New winter flannel shirts from Kmart, the softest hand knitted cardigans from my aunt, cute beanie and knee high socks. I love the series of shots Rob took.

Maggie: An East coast Low weather front has moved down from mainland Australia along the east coast of Tasmania. The rain started on Saturday night and hasn't really stopped. There has been a lot of gazing out the window at the constant rain. Rob took these portraits of the girls on the window seat.
Elisabeth: The girls have decided they need to do some toilet training. We are still working on getting to the potty before they wee not after the fact!

Playing catch up so we have finally on time with the 52 portraits project.

Maggie: The nights have been clear this week, so we have been waking up to the grass covered in a thick layer of frost. Or "frosting" as the girls call it. They ran off on Wednesday morning, dogs in hot pursuit to play in the crunchy grass before it melted.
Elisabeth: Not quite sure why she looks so serious!

These are actually last week's portraits, I am yet to take this weeks. oh well!

Maggie: Rob took this portrait of Maggie last week while the girls were playing fairy games in the orchard. I worked a half day on Wednesday, and despite it being freezing I took the girls to a new park (well new to them!), they ran around playing imaginary games for over an hour. Maggie is particularly animated in her role play, and is also forthright in her interactions with other children. Due to the temperature and it being midweek around lunch time the park was pretty empty, but Maggie nonchalantly walked up to a pair of school aged children, at least a foot taller than herself, she told Lizzie, "I'm just going to talk to these children", then turned to them and told them "Just don't get in our way, OK?!" I'm not sure who was more shocked: the children or myself. After correcting Maggie on polite behaviour and playground etiquette we all moved on!
Elisabeth: I took this portrait of Elisabeth on a walk around the block. They are very excited about school next year. We have been discussing it, and starting to get ready. Although I think the girls primary concern is their uniform!

Maggie: Rob took both of these portraits last Saturday (so even thought this post is late, the photos were taken on time!) before we headed to a Princess birthday party. We got a new (to us) car this week, Maggie is very impressed with the "shiny car".
Elisabeth: She loves dressing up as Elsa. Such a grown up little girl. I mentioned I was looking forward to trying a Hot dog at a pub for lunch, she was mortified, "Mama you can't eat dogs, they are furry and so cute!"
