Sunday Lunch

Posted by Picasa
I haven't blogged about food for a while.
We have been eating, just too quickly to take a photo!
The season of middle eastern food has begun.
Sunday's menu:
Hummus
Baba Ghanooj
Cacik
Za'atar chicken
Lamb kofte
Lavosh
Green beans cooked with onions and tomatoes
It was all good. Very good.
It was my first attempt at lavosh. So much better than shop ones.
They were dead easy to make.
The best bit - we made so much food we also have Monday dinner sorted.

Sounds perfect, Hazel. Which lavosh recipe did you use? I've never meade it, and feel inspired after looking at your pics.

Hi Rita, it was a Julie Le Clerc recipe, it was just mixing (from memory) 2 1/4 cups plain flour, 1/2 cup fine semolina, a Tsp of salt, a tsp of sugar, then make a well in the middle. Combine 1 egg, 200ml milk and 1/4 cup olive oil then pour into the dry ingredients and mix together. Lightly knead on a floured bench til it comes together then rest in the fridge for 1 hour. Roll out small balls of the dough until paper thin then cook in an oven (180degC) on trays for 10 mins or until lightly browned. Goodluck!
