Maggie: Rob took this portrait of Maggie last week while the girls were playing fairy games in the orchard. I worked a half day on Wednesday, and despite it being freezing I took the girls to a new park (well new to them!), they ran around playing imaginary games for over an hour. Maggie is particularly animated in her role play, and is also forthright in her interactions with other children. Due to the temperature and it being midweek around lunch time the park was pretty empty, but Maggie nonchalantly walked up to a pair of school aged children, at least a foot taller than herself, she told Lizzie, "I'm just going to talk to these children", then turned to them and told them "Just don't get in our way, OK?!" I'm not sure who was more shocked: the children or myself. After correcting Maggie on polite behaviour and playground etiquette we all moved on!
Elisabeth: I took this portrait of Elisabeth on a walk around the block. They are very excited about school next year. We have been discussing it, and starting to get ready. Although I think the girls primary concern is their uniform!

Blogging late again for my 52 portraits.

Maggie: Rob took both of these portraits last Saturday (so even thought this post is late, the photos were taken on time!) before we headed to a Princess birthday party. We got a new (to us) car this week, Maggie is very impressed with the "shiny car".
Elisabeth: She loves dressing up as Elsa. Such a grown up little girl. I mentioned I was looking forward to trying a Hot dog at a pub for lunch, she was mortified, "Mama you can't eat dogs, they are furry and so cute!"

Playing catch up on the blog for my 52 portraits.

Maggie: We spent a morning together in town, (shopping for my Mother's day gift of clothes, I felt very spoilt), eating ice cream and finally a quick visit to the Botanical gardens. The girls were looking  forward to kicking the leaves. Maggie may grow up to be a yoga instructor. We often do a few minutes of yoga together before bed. She takes it very seriously, has perfect form and tells us how to fix our positions too!
Elisabeth: She takes after her father in many ways, but she is also becoming very complimentary. We headed into the city for a cocktail party at Rob's work, so I dressed up a bit more than normal. She saw me and exclaimed "oh Mama you look splendid!"

Maggie: She has been keeping us on our toes. Last Monday she stuffed two heart-shaped buttons up her nostril! She turned to me and told me she had hearts in her nose! After a bit of a panic, Rob managed to calm us both down, extract the first button with some tweezers and then Maggie blew out the other button.
Elisabeth: I love how she is holding Rob's boot in this photo! We rushed outside in a break in the rain yesterday and headed to a local park. The girls loved having the pirate boat to themselves and their role-play games made us giggle on more than one occasion!

Finally we have caught up on the 52 portrait project! Rob took both of these photos.

Maggie: After a long week of broken sleep, coughing, runny noses, lethargy, clingy cuddles, and way too much Play school, we woke up on Sunday morning saw that the weather was going to be perfect and kidnapped our house guest, cramming ourselves all into our little Peugeot hatch and drove quickly to the Bruny Island Ferry. It is only five minutes away, but we have never managed to visit. The girls were highly excited by the ferry ride, and our first stop was to climb up the steps to the lookout on the Neck. The girls climbed them all by themselves. Maggie was very keen when she saw the beach from way up high to go and have a play in the sand.
Elisabeth: This autumn has been ridiculously warm. I said to Rob that last Sunday, it was almost dream-like, so warm and sunny. Paddling in the sea in late April is almost unheard of! We seemed to be in another world for the quality of the light in autumn creates a surreal glow to the day, unlike the harsh summer light.
Rob took these portraits as the girls played on the beach.

Joining in a week late (although the photos were taken on the day!) with Jodi's 52 portrait project.

Maggie: It was a tough week to take photos of the girls- as the we were all under the weather, and there was so much snot. Rob just commented these are not the best photos. No, but they capture a week of our lives all the same.
Elisabeth: I still like this photo for her curls and her dark eye lashes. The girls are growing and changing so quickly at the moment, I often turn around and realise they are no longer toddlers!

Joining in very late with Jodi's 52 portrait project.
