Just had to share...

I'm lying on the window-seat (heavenly) reading one of my favourite Bill Bryson books (have I told you we met him on the Tarn Shelf?) enjoying the golden light coming through the window.
My God-daughter and her family came down for lunch today to celebrate her birthday. I've been keen to decorate a cake with mini bunting, and today we produced a totally oversized Primrose Bakery lemon cake with cream cheese frosting. I have to say that I'm having a moment of quiet pride, the birthday girl was impressed too!

Oh how lovely. I was also reading this afternoon in the shade of an incredible day!! The cake looks incredible, what a lovely God mother you are. Pats to the puppies, mine is lying at my feet, he's hot & pooped from an adventurous walk + hot hot hot day. Love Posie

Hi Posie- pats to your Kahn, I'm afraid Claudia was totally scared of the children and sat on the window seat looking worried. Nigella loves them and was happy to take centre stage and get all the attention. But I don't know what to do about Claudia- I'm not sure why she is so worried by children, they were pretty understanding and didn't "push her" but she's not met that many children to develop such a phobia!

Susan, it was a shame - but harder still to cut it up- I measured it this morning it was 15cm high!

Thanks Michelle, it was really only meant to have 2 layers, but I looked at it and I thought they looked to thin, so I made another two! Our friends took some home and the rest I managed to feed to my workmates!
